There's a shut out, goin' on,
there's a big shout from the man on the phone,
and there's no one to say it is wrong,
there's a shut out.

There's a hold out in the wings,
somebody sold out, when somebody sings,
they don't listen to a full range,
there's a shut out.

Rich man, poor man, all on the make,
they all think they got what it takes,
all fired up and ready to go,
down by now there'll be no show.

There is heartache down the line,
for the big break, we're ready to sign,
and we believe it 'til the day we find,
there's a shut out ...

Kids with fire and plenty to say,
get cut down before they can play,
high ideals and people who dare,
give way to millionaires.
