Mississippi - Mississippi 1973 |
Born from the early experiences in ALISON GROS [who had the 1971 hit 'Daddy Cool' in Australia under the name DRUMMOND], MISSISSIPPI was founded in 1972, initially consisting of GRAEHAM GOBLE, RUSS JOHNSON and JOHN MOWER. This album contains their first well-known hit, Kings Of The World. To my knowledge, MISSISSIPPI was completed by BEEB BIRTLES, DEREK PELLICCI and COLIN DELUCA. Please be sure to read the whole MISSISSIPPI story here! |

Beeb Birtles & Graeham Goble - The Last Romance 1979 |
After the successful release of 'First Under The Wire', BEEB BIRTLES and GRAEHAM GOBLE had composed so many songs that had not been used by LRB and were very keen to be put out as a duo. They decided to produce this album, opening with the fantastic Lonely Lives. The album comes quite romantic and slow, so in my opinion it was a good decision not to have these songs released as LRB material. There is a special quality between BEEB and GRAEHAM only heard on this recording and on the song I Don't Worry No More from the 'Backstage Pass' release. In the meantime the album was [thankfully] re-released on CD in 1997. LRB members such as DAVID BRIGGS on guitars, GEORGE McARDLE on bass and DEREK PELLICCI on drums joined the two in the studio, together with other session musicians. |

Glenn Shorrock, Beeb Birtles, Graeham Goble -Beginnings, Vol. 1 & 2 1980 |
With the worldwide success of LRB in the second half of the 70s Capitol Records decided to release these two vinyl compilations of early recordings of GLENN SHORROCK, BEEB BIRTLES and GRAEHAM GOBLE. The sleeve notes read: "But before there was Little River Band, three of its founding members apprenticed in two of Australia's most popular, and seminal, bands - Glenn Shorrock in Axiom, Beeb Birtles and Graham Goble in Mississippi. ... Of value to historian and fan alike, these tracks provide a key to the sound that have made Little River Band a favorite of audiences throughout the world." |

The Graham Goble
Encounter - Nautilus 1993 |
This album brings back GRAEHAM GOBLE with a different, modernized sound. If you know the BIRTLES & GOBLE album you probably wouldn't have expected such an updated sound. But the new, powerful and commercially polished rock sound works great together with the new voice, STEVE WADE. I consider him and his voice to be as interesting as JOHN FARNHAM. GRAHAM also recruited LRB guitarist STEPHEN HOUSDEN, but did most of the sequencing and programming himself. Once again, GOBLE proves his unique ability to adjust and develop an approach to the taste of the market. I Can't Eat, Can't Sleep gained some success as a single, but my personal favorite is the emotional She Tells You, You Tell Me. |

Graeham
Goble - Stop 1995 |
The second release of GRAEHAM GOBLE after leaving the band again proves him to be an oustanding composer. Please Don't Ask Me initiated on JOHN FARNHAM'S 'Uncovered' album [and was also releases as a LRB version on 'Too Late To Load']. Listen to this fantastic version of Time And Eternity which was also originally from the 'Get Lucky' album! |

Broken Voices 1997 recorded 1990/1991 |
After years of waiting, Thoughtscape Sounds released GRAHAM GOBLE'S 1991 tapes of his BROKEN VOICES project. When listening to these songs it becomes obvious that it's a GRAHAM GOBLE release, but you can also hear STEPHEN'S Celtic influences with the guitar playing. And SUSIE AHERN is truly a great and gifted singer.
What I feel is unusual is the sort of bombastic sound this production comes along with, but I guess that's a matter of taste. For me, it was one of my personal favorites in 1997. |

Graeham Goble - The New Nautilus (limited edition) 1999 |
Simply using his own name GRAHAM GOBLE released this limited edition of his 1993 record. The song list is a little different to the initial CD release, the well-known LRB tune Full Circle and the song I've Been Broken were replaced by Restless Heart (a song that also appeared on the Broken Voices album) and I've Found You. |

Graham
Goble - Stop (limited edition) 1999 |
This re-release is equal to its original, the song list is absolutely the same. I have no idea whether remixes were made for this edition, I can't make out a difference at all. I prefer this cover layout to the original. |

Mississippi - Mississippi 1973
CD-reissue of 2002 (?) |
Very much to my delight I learned that EMI Australasia decided to reissue the sole MISSISSIPPI release on CD. Neither the track listing nor the sound appears to be different from the 1973 vinyl release. The cover is different, though. At least this CD was made from the original tapes. |

Birtles Shorrock
Goble -
Full Circle
2003 |
After more than twenty years founding members BEEB BIRTLES, GRAEHAM GOBLE and GLENN SHORROCK finally reunited in 2002 and extensively toured Australia and the Asian area, mainly performing older songs made famous as LITTLE RIVER BAND. As a result of these performances this album hit the market in October 2003, containing 18 tracks. Due to the fact that the lineup surrounding STEPHEN HOUSDEN and WAYNE NELSON holds all the rights of the name "LITTLE RIVER BAND" BEEB, GRAEHAM and GLENN decided to simply use their own names, but the cover states "The original voices of LITTLE RIVER BAND" which is an indisputable historical fact.

Full Circle DVD
2003 |
The reappearance of BIRTLES SHORROCK GOBLE in Australia was not only documented on CD, but on a DVD with the same title which was filmed during their shows July 18th and 19th, 2003 at The Forum Theatre, Melbourne. Different to the CD this DVD brings a total of 30 tracks which every fan of the early LITTLE RIVER BAND will highly appreciate and enjoy! Other than the well-known LRB tracks you will also hear and see performances of BEEB BIRTLES' Photogentic [initially from this 'Driven By Dreams' album], GLENN'S Deep Water and a new song of GRAEHAM GOBLE, Heart & Soul.
